DETACTOR USED IN GC

DETACTOR USED IN GC-

1)catalytic combustion detector (CCD), which measures combustible hydrocarbons and hydrogen.
2)discharge ionization detector (DID), which uses a high-voltage electric discharge to produce ions.
3)dry electrolytic conductivity detector (DELCD), which uses an air phase and high temperature (v.Coulsen) to measure chlorinated compounds.
4)electron capture detector (ECD), which uses a radioactive Beta particle (electron) source to measure the degree of electron capture.
5)flame photometric detector (FPD)
6)flame ionization detector (FID)
7)Hall electrolytic conductivity detector (ElCD)
8)helium ionization detector (HID)
9)Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector (NPD)
10)Infrared Detector (IRD)
11)mass selective detector (MSD)
12)photo-ionization detector (PID)
13)pulsed discharge ionization detector (PDD)
14)thermal energy(conductivity) analyzer/detector (TEA/TCD)
15)thermionic ionization detector (TID)

The most common are the flame ionization detector (FID) and the thermal conductivity detector (TCD)
TCDs are universal and can be used to detect any component other than the carrier gas FIDs are sensitive primarily to hydrocarbons, and are more sensitive to them than TCD. However, an FID cannot detect water
